Chronic Pain and Addiction

Center and Academy Welcome Dr. Asa Don Brown


The National Center for Crisis Management and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress would like to welcome Dr. Asa Don Brown to the Board of Scientific Advisors.  He is an author, speaker, and clinician. He has achieved the merits of a Ph.D. in Psychology with a Specialization in Clinical Psychology; a Masters of Science; and a Bachelors of Science. He has been affiliated with Royal Roads University (2006-present), Thompson Rivers University (2012-2014), and Grant MacEwan College (2007). He currently serves as an Advisory Board Member at the Brain Technology & Neuroscience Research Centre, BTNRC; has served as the Bylaws and Ethics Director for the Washington Counseling Association; as well as having served as the Director of Promotions for The Society for the Arts in Dementia Care. Of the many accolades and recognitions, Dr. Brown has been named a Global Presence Ambassador, an arm of Parenting 2.0; a Fellow of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and a Diplomate of the National Center for Crisis Management.
Dr. Brown is a prolific author having been published in a variety of professional and popular journals, magazines,and online columns. He has had the privilege of being interviewed and a guest of a variety of television, radio, magazine, and newspaper columns. Dr. Brown has a monthly column with The Sober World Magazine. In the past he wrote a bimonthly column for four years with the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association, CCPA. In the past few years, Dr. Brown has published the following books: Interpersonal Skills in the Workplace, Finding Solutions that Work, 2015; Waiting to Live, 2010 and The Effects of Childhood Trauma on Adult Perception and Worldview, 2008. During the next year, Dr. Brown anticipates publishing manuscripts that will discuss the following topics: racism; employee improvement; and a cookbook based on his love of cooking.

DR. BRUCE MONKHOUSE


I thought that the book was very well written as Dr. Brown covers a very complex issue in a thorough, accurate and thoroughly understandable manner.  The learning objectives and issues in regard to confidentiality are nicely set out at the outset and the rest of the work meets these expectations... Dr. Brown effectively discusses the importance of proactively dealing with these issues thus reducing the possibility of violence occurring ...
